The building is a non-denominational Chapel, serving both Protestants ans Catholic Christians. The Chapel is located on the grounds of the University Campus of Dar es Salaam.
In the urban plan it was said that the Chapel must not be recognizable as a church. Near the Chapel is a Mosque and residences for tutors and student hostels.
