The Fund is one of the Dutch national culture funds and is financially supported by the Ministries of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM), of Agriculture Nature Management and Fisheries (LNV) and of Foreign Affaires (BuZa). The Fund implements a number of grant programmes that are geared to the development of knowledge of the design-based disciplines and to promoting an interest in architecture, urban design, spatial planning, landscape architecture and interior architecture. Each grant programme has its own accent.
Linking architecture in with cultural policy and cultural politics implies the importance of a sociological and cultural approach to spatial issues. This context and the instruments that the Fund employs in order to foster this are outlined in the Fund's policy plan.
